Hey, Mrs. Wolowitz! Shut the Fuck Up!!

The longer I live above the Downstairs Nightmares... the more I realize I can't fucking stand them.

I was sleeping pretty sound last night when the sound of hands drumming on the windowsill downstairs woke up.

"JACK! JACK! I need help getting up!"

What the hell?!? I lay there and listened to her yell for what seemed like an eternity when I realized...

I'm living above Mrs. Wolowitz. The only thing missing was her yelling about sex criminals.

Although, I must say, her husband kind of looks like one.... No need to fear them at the door when you're living with one.

I ended up getting up and heading out into the living room, hoping for a little break from the circus, only, it followed me out to the living room. Before I knew it, there was crashing and banging in the kitchen below me and the garbage disposal was going.

Really???

No rest for the weary they say... Or is it the wicked?? Either way, I probably fall into both categories. Lately I feel as though I'm going to hell in a handbasket.

A handbasket without a drink carrier and my fountain pop has spilled all over the front of my shirt.....

They never go anywhere... so it might be a challenge to insert a Stewart. I don't think a Stewart would want to be a part of that mess. As for being here.... I dont think there is a single person in my real life that would believe I frequent a site like this. People develop a image of me in their mind and it's hard to see me, the real me, that is human and flawed with needs and wants. One of my coworkers was embarrassed to have me meet her husband because he worked in the food industry. He was a nice guy and had a job, treated her well, isn't that really all that matters?
They never go anywhere? Well, sounds like a micro-sized version of life, which that old Mark Twain quote could apply to; “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.” (I just heard a reference to the quote a couple of days ago)

Sorry, but when you phrase it, “insert a Stewart,” my mind goes all sorts of terrible places.

Well, knowing people on different levels does sometimes lead to an incompleteness-skewed perspective. I don’t imagine you’d necessarily want everyone in your life to know you in the way that we get to see you here. However, at least the odd person, IRL? Might make the “needs” feel less needy, burrowing down deeper and deeper into your mind? Why would she be embarrassed? Sounds like he was a good fit with her, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

the apt complex i am about to move out of is well padded. when i lived in the old building i don't recall hearing the person above or behind me. in the current apt i can hear them vacuum. and the neighbor across the hall i can hear his music.
I never hear the people in the apartment next to me. I can always hear the woman in the apartment below me because I don't think she can talk in anything quieter than a bellow. She is the only person I ever hear talking down there.

I've lived here since I got divorced.... it actually wasn't a long term plan, but I got comfortable. It's time for me to move on, but, I'm kind of scared to leave my comfort zone.
I think we have spoken before about my move back to the UK. I was in my comfort zone in Hamburg, and the move back home was hard but worthwhile.
I think you know it is time to bite the bullet, and look for another apartment, or better yet a house, if you can afford it

odd. i always felt things were noisier with an apt above than below.
sorry you have crazy people below!
My guess is, it's probably pretty noisy hearing us walk around all the time. I'm sure they can hear every time the toilet flushes or one of us takes a shower.... But I'm pretty conscientious about how hard I step or when my daughter was little and running around, I'd wrangle her up and go outside with her.

I can't believe you have not moved, the smoke alone would have been enough for me. Good neighbors are a overlooked blessing.
I don't want to jinx things by saying it out loud.... But the cigarette smoke thing has slowly become a non issue. Not sure if it was her health, or constant complaints... Don't get me wrong, I've wanted to move, more than anything. Part of the issue is there aren't many options out there.

That reminds me of the time back in my teenager years in high school. We lived in an apartment on the lower floor. There was this mean ugly old lady who was always bitching about everything and everybody that lived in the apartment above us. She always talked very loudly, I suppose it was because she was hard of hearing. Her unfortunate grand daughter lived there with her. As with most apartments we could always hear when she or her granddaughter would run the vacuum and hear her yelling over the sound of the vacuum. But there was frequently another sound that came from upstairs in the bedroom area. A deep penetrating buzzing sound. When we first moved in us kids would hear this buzzing sound that came from the bedroom above and that never seemed to move to any other part of the apartment and we of course came to the conclusion that it must be old lady La**** with her vibrator. We never heard any other sound like talking or her thumping footsteps when this sound was heard. Of course me and my brother would speculate about what kind of vibrator she had, given how loud it seemed from the bedroom below. Wondering whether it was an industrial strength vibrator or maybe a suped up adult version of the sit and spin or possibly an exercise bicycle with a personal attachment. Other than the buzzing it was blissfully quiet during her "exercise routine" and for a little while afterwards.
Thankfully, I dont hear anything like that. Yikes.... I dont think they even have sex. I'm certain they've heard me, though... Pre-COVID. I miss those days...

I used to have a neighbour who didn't like my sound system. I told him he was being overly attentive.
He preferred to periodically get the second opinion from the police.
That fucker moved away... and I've changed my musical tastes over the years with a preference for softer sound - in my home.
Oh and... the kids moved out.
True story... she is the only loud thing down there. I never hear loud music or the tv too loud. Just her gravely toned voice bellowing about the apartment. I can't hear he phone conversations through the floor.

She's at it again tonight... her voice is just so loud, so obnoxious.

I love 'The Big Bang Theory'... LOL

I haven't always had such terrible neighbors down there. When I first moved in here there was a single mom, like me, with a couple of kids. I've noticed, the tenants who work for a living tended to be the better neighbors.... The ones down there currently never leave, they must be living on disability or something. They are loud, obnoxious, smoke like fiends, and their dogs are annoying.
