The Very First Time... 😊

Note : A F F is deleting words in the t.ext. Please be patient.

I drove through, my old neighbourhood, over the weekend. All... has changed. But... I thought of a childhood memory...

I recalled everything clearly, as if it happened yesterday. It was late August and summer, was passing by too quickly. The afternoon sun blazed... through a bright, hazy sky. It was humid and clammy. Even if you stood still, you'd sweat, the type of wetness, would stick to your eyelids. day, surprised me. SHE surprised me.

I was a , barely ten. She was much older than me - eleven and a half. We lived on a, brand new street , just behind a thick forest. There were plenty of interesting things, to discover in there. The older boys, were always building small, "make believe" forts and mazes, out of tape and large cardboard boxes - once held new fridges.
She was my best friend; the girl next door - literally . We were bored. It was too hot to go for a bike ride. We'd run out of things to do... and games to . Summer, had taken its toll, on our imaginations.

She had an idea and motioned to me. "Paul.. let's go to the forest."

I followed her. We entered the cool shade of the trees and made our way, towards the cardboard fort; the one in the middle of forest. We stopped the flimsy doorway, labeled - "Frigidaire". Her question to me, was a simple one. All I had to do, was answer it . The cicadas, buzzed impatiently... while I thought, of what to say. My stomach, felt like a kaleidoscope of butterflies, were nesting there. I knew... what I wanted, to say.

Ahh... you know... never mind. It was a long time ago. She moved away the following winter. I never saw her after . But that day... I'll never forget - THAT day! I was ten... and she was eleven and a half.

They've built an apartment block complex, where that forest used to grow. There were some , playing outside, as I drove by.

............................................
So...
When you were a ... did you have a favorite or special place to play?
Whatcha y'all havin' for dinner?

Dinner is a potato frittata with a hamburger steak and fresh coleslaw. Yep... I'll go with that. It's stopped raining here... and that's good! ☔😊

Glad it stopped raining where you are I have not thought of dinner yet. I just had lunch. Nothing creative just a sandwich. I might have chicken salad for dinner. I don't want my cucumbers and tomatoes to go to waste. LOL As to favorite places to play as a kid...I moved a few times so usually it was just a back yard here or there. I did play kick ball quite a bit at our school yard which was a couple blocks from my house. It's funny how our old phys ed teacher had us play that game so often. It was pretty easy to teach and monitor I guess.

We called it "the woods" .... in reality, it was just a strip of undeveloped land bordering a drainage creek. Still, it was my place .... my place of escape from 4 brothers. A place of unformed, pre-adolescent dreams.

nothing like brand new developments, where the street ends and the forest starts.
ours was a field flat enough for a baseball field, woods on the two sides, for the more adventures escapades.
oh those years between 12 and 16 were filled with baseball and discoveries.

grilled chicken thighs, roasted potatoes, greek salad, and garlic sauce

there is a world of difference between insanity and stupidity

When we werent playing road hockey we were in the forests and at the lake just down the street. Fishing, making forts and the occasional game of hide and seek at the cemetary up the road. I had my first kiss in those forests.....

Salad with some chicken in it for supper....

Some fond childhood memories you have I have some of those too, I used to spend a lot of time at my neighbors house that was what we called the fun house. Lots of games like spin the bottle, and things like that don't think I have to draw you a picture right.. lol..

Lets see what's for dinner, tonight it's going to be Chili Cheese Polish Sausage on some nice Artisan buns. I hope your dinner is a fulfilling one and your day is a great start to your week..

Seduce the mind and see what a wonderful adventure the body will take you on..

The ends of streets.. the refuge for the ones fortunate to have had one.
You were lucky... I'm sure there are more than a few good stories to be shared. 😊
That's a healthy meal. Yeah... I could go for that. Haven't had a Greek salad in ages. Thanks for the idea!
Drop by any time. 👍

Pictures? lol... No... how's about a story.... one day? 😊
Ya know... I get some great food ideas here. Now THAT'S something I haven't had in a while...
Naked spin the bottle? lol... ðŸūðŸ˜ą

Before I was 12, dance classes, choir and modelling school kept me busy. When we moved out to the ‘burbs, green space was almost non-existent so we took turns back and forth at each other’s houses. My brothers played hockey and baseball and my Dad coached. I developed a love and knowledge of both along with many other sports that still exists.
Dinner tonight: grilled sausages and veggies.

Modelling... really? That's interesting. Did you learn or retain any lessons from that, experience? ðŸĪ”
Sounds like sports, were a big part of your growing years. Besides watching...📚 do you / did you play any? âš―ðŸ˜‰

Escape from teasing and tormenting ... my brothers favorite past time when they were bored. Can't tease your sister if you can't find her!

Dreams come true? Nope...still waiting to turn into a tall, svelte sexy brunette that drives men wild with desire.

Well blow this site. I had something already in here and it vanished. Anyway I grew up in the city. We all had backyards. When really young (3-5) we made mud pies in the sandboxes, slathering each other to see who god get covered the most. As we got older we wandered the back alley, picking hollyhock blossoms to make dolls. Some mothers and I recalle one special one) would let a select few of us use the kitchen to make cookies as long as we cleaned up.
The family on the right was Polish catholic and had 10 kids. She made awesome meat pierogies. Halfway down the block was a family of Irish catholic
and they had 7 boys and four girls. One of them was the paperboy and we got even with him in a way I might tell another time. Childhood was a grand good memory
PS: broccoli slaw and baked chicken thighs( I cooked extra fro salad)

Appearance, personal hygiene and great posture! Always prefer watching sports in person. We also had a pool table, so when I wasn’t stuck being scorekeeper or barmaid, , I got pretty good, even had my own cue. 10-pin bowling (and no, not in a naked league) kept me busy. Love walking and hiking. BBQ sauce on the sausages.

Dinner was a little bit of Italian bread from the bakery and a little cheddar cheese. Wasn't really all that hungry.

We used to play in the big field behind our neighbor's house...softball games in the tall grass just as the day faded into dusk...
